Special Call for Veteran and Caregiver Posters: Advancing Health Equity through Research, Implementation Science, Diversity, and Inclusion
Veterans and Caregivers are invited to submit abstracts for poster presentations that highlight research projects, Veteran Engagement Groups (VEGs), or other research-related activities. Posters sessions provide an opportunity meet researchers, other Veterans, and Caregivers from all over the United States. Accepted posters will be displayed during a poster session.
Some Veterans may not know how to design a research poster, but we hope the project teams they work with can assist them. Upon acceptance, the committee will provide detailed instructions for turning submitted abstracts into posters. This committee of peers (researchers, Veterans and Caregivers) will collect submissions and review them to ensure a diverse selection of Veterans and Caregivers are represented at the national meeting. Invited Veterans and Caregivers can work with their research teams to design their posters using a suggested template.
We believe the impact of this special poster session will include:
- Veterans/Caregivers will be able to connect with a wide range of researchers to help promote Veteran Engagement (VE).
- Researchers curious about VEGs will have the opportunity to see examples of VE methods, activities, and groups.
- Posters will help keep conversations focused on the Veteran’s/Caregiver’s project goals and promote inclusivity.
- Researchers will have opportunities to network with Veterans and Caregivers.
The HSR&D National Meeting is an invitation-only conference, which is unlike other conferences where anyone can pay attendance and lodging fees to participate. In this case, HSR&D pays the expenses for everyone invited, so only a limited number of people can attend. While there is no official cap on how many veterans and caregivers are invited, the review committee will determine the number of attendees once all abstract submissions are received.
